Company: REArt

Location: San Diego, Calif.

Ruth Anderson was a full partner in Esbin-Anderson Photography in New York City for more than 20 years. Together with her husband, they were a team, conducting photography for corporate and book publishing clients, as well as head shots and family portraits. As independent photographers, they developed an idea, then she would write up and draw story boards for them to use on the stock photo shoots. They would send these to eight different stock photo agencies all over the world who would market them on their behalf.

Garnering 31 years in the fine arts arena, Ms. Anderson has spent the past 13 years as owner of REArt, an independent provider of sculptures, paintings, digital art and photography in San Diego, Calif.Throughout her work-week, she paints with oils, acrylics, water color and papers, and tries to push the limit with her mixed media art by attaching bones, skulls, papers, wires, metal and shed snake skin to canvas or paper, resulting in 2-D wall art. She also sculpts in clay that is cast into bronze on a commission basis due to the expense, and uses recycled materials such as broken metal containers, doll parts, bits and pieces of metal, and watch parts. In five years, Ms Anderson hopes to obtain art representation, be exhibited in art galleries and gain some recognition in the art world. Hopefully, this will result in an increase in her sales.

Ms. Anderson attributes her success to her personality, her perseverance, and her love and passion for the arts. Initially, she became involved in professional fine arts after working for 20 years as an assistant vice president for Citicorp, then deciding to leave her successful career behind due to health issues. Since she was a child, she loved fine art and painted, so naturally, she went back to painting and then picked up a camera and found another art form and passion. She keeps abreast of changes in the field through her membership with the Art Society and American Cetacean Society.
