Honing in 50 years of writing and editing experience, Barbara Westergaard feels that working hard and not taking ‘no’ for an answer has contributed to her success. The advice that she can give to the younger generation of women entering the workforce is make assumptions that you are as good as a man without having a chip on your shoulder. Ms. Westergaard has always had a passion for reading and writing, so becoming an author was a natural progression for me.
Being a writer has always allowed Ms. Westergaard to make full use of her creativity, and she wouldn’t change a thing; her goal is learn something new each and every day. The biggest challenge for her has been developing a healthy balance between work and family. As an author, my greatest strength is in non-fiction. Ms. Westergaard’s greatest accomplishment is having a wonderful family, as they are always enthusiastic about her writing, utilizing her creativity to the maximum.
Ms. Westergaard draws inspiration comes from “within.” Since childhood, she has always loved writing. It has been her motivation that has been the driving force in her profession. It has brought her great success in both her personal and professional life. Ms. Westergaard wants to be fondly remembered as an accomplished author who “was a reasonable writer.” During her free-time, she enjoys reading, writing, gardening, talking to her dog and spending time with her entire family and friends.
