Title: Performance Improvement Manager
Company: Cooper University Healthcare
Location: Merchantville, N.J.
Celebrating 30 years of hospital and health care services, Sharon McLean continues in her 10th years as performance improvement manager at Cooper University Healthcare. As a woman in today’s world, she feels that her drive, passion and dedication has contributed to her success; she sees these three to intersect with opportunity in all her endeavors. Ms. McLean has also had a plethora of mentors throughout her career, including her mother; she has always felt her calling in life was to help people, so she pursued a career in health care, following in her mother’s footsteps.
The advice Ms. McLean can give to the younger generation of women is “Love what you do. Be open to all possibilities. You can not just work for money. The love of the job or industry will drive you where you have passion and desire to make a difference.” Her greatest strength is her ability to stick with something and see it through regardless of the difficulty. Ms. McLean’s professional goal is that she is opened to all possibilities; she wants to help future nurses, teach nursing classes, give so much back, and nurture the next generation of nurses.
Ms. McLean received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Drexler University, and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and a Certified Critical Care Nurse. Since graduation, she keeps abreast of changes in her profession through her memberships with the American Nurses Association and National Association for Health Care Quality. During her free-time, Ms. McLean enjoys bird watching, reading and spending time with family and friends.
