Celebrating an overall career of 29 years, Melanie Wong brings to the financial arena 20 years of experience working with BNY Mellon. As current managing director, Ms. Wong oversees leads a global sales and relationship management team as they develop new business in foreign exchange, assess opportunities and offer financial solutions within five business segments. Her professional strengths lie in her ability-based confidence, capacity for situational assessment and expertise in forging paths to client and team solutions.
After earning a Master of Business Administration in finance and international business from New York University, Ms. Wong was hired at a government brokerage firm, where she took care of financial analysis and developed an appreciation for a fast-paced trading environment. She moved to institutional sales after working in trading, and was ultimately asked to grow the foreign exchange business in Asia for BNY Mellon. Armed with little infrastructure, Ms. Wong built the business into a viable and profitable one in six-and-a-half years, a feat she considers to be her greatest professional accomplishment.
Inspired by her parents and self-driven events, Ms. Wong aspires to make an impact in a growth industry through her continued efforts to learn, help and bring creativity to her field. A people-person always looking to help, she advises others to learn how to properly approach situations, polish self-presentation and remain confident in order to succeed in their chosen industries. She fosters professional connections through her memberships in the National Association of Professional Women and New York University Alumni, and furthers her motivational aspirations through her support of the New York University Mentor Program. Due to her excellence in her field, Ms. Wong was elected to be the sole representative from BNY Mellon to participate in KPMG’s Executive Leadership Institute for Women in 2014. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, traveling, visiting museums and fine dining.
