Having been picked out of 20,000 applicants, Julia Mccoy continues as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. Recently, the airline made the black dress code-uniform for female employees, which she heard from male employees on how flight attendants look like women again. Ms. Mccoy found this very demeaning, had the courage to not wear the dress to overcome stereotypes, and continues to remain strong in her commitment to female equality.
Ms. Mccoy would want there to be more respect for the ramp personnel equal so that the pilots and flight attendants are treated on an even keel. She also wants society to look at the blue collar workers in a different light because less and less people are going into the trades because of this and these jobs are crucial. This is the reason Ms. Mccoy wrote the book, “Putting Sexy Back in Votech”.
Having always dreamed of being a writer, author Ms. Mccoy continues in her creative pursuits, keeping herself disciplined to sit down and write. Her goal is to take her book and speak in high schools to educate students on displaced workers and teach them about how to get into the trades where there is a real need for workers. Ms. Mccoy is also the author of I am the author of a book entitled “How to Make the Salary of a Doctor Without the Student Loan Debt.”
