Celebrating her publication of 23 children’s stories and receiving various awards for excellence in services, Gloria Vaughn has earned her vast experience in teaching and child development. For the past 49 years, she has provided educational consulting to parents of infants and children who have special needs involved in their educational development. Through hard work, perseverance and extensive research, Ms. Vaughn continues her success as a direct and meaningful participant in these children’s lives.

Throughout her work-week, Ms. Vaughn manages 15 visually impaired infants and 11 children with multiple specific needs while learning during their development. Patiently, she handles supervision and mentorships, while writing grants and teaching college classes for teachers. She also teaches a summer school to a class of 14 deaf and blind students. Initially, she became involved in her profession after working with visually impaired children and developing an interest in educational consulting.

Ms. Vaughn received a Master of Science in psychology from Vanderbilt University and Bachelor of Science in music and education from Texas Wesleyan University, Fort Worth. She is a certified teacher of the visually impaired through The University of Texas and an education specialist in childhood development through Vanderbilt University. To keep up with changes in her career, she holds memberships with Surrey Association for Visual Impairment, Association for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired, National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Council for Exceptional Children. During her free-time, Ms. Vaughn enjoys hanging out with her two grandchildren.
