Wielding 25 years of higher education expertise, Dr. Anne Tapp continues in her current position as assistant dean at Saginaw Valley State University. As a woman in today’s world, she attributes her success to hard work, networking and taking the time to learn all she can as she feels ‘knowledge is power’. Dr. Tapp’s advice to the younger generation of women is that education has changed and strict standards have been imposed while the curriculum is being pushed down. Staying current in the field is very important and to build relationships.

Dr. Tapp earned her Ph.D. from Wayne State University and had the benefit of many great mentors along the way. As an Assistant Dean in the field of Higher Education, she has had the privilege of impacting the many lives of our future leaders. She chose her career path in higher education to make a difference in the lives of the many young adults who have the desire and are making the commitment to furthering their education and life goals. Dr. Tapp’s biggest challenge is finding more time in her day to address everything that is on her priority list and have time for personal responsibilities.

The one aspect of Dr. Tapp’s profession she would change is to for all young adults to have a solid understanding of what education means to their future.
