Celebrating nine years at the Bureau of Legislative Research, Doris Johnston-James continues as Senior Legislative Editor, drawing from 27 years of professional editorial expertise. She is an editor/researcher for the Arkansas Legislative Council in the Statutory Review Section. Previously, she was a broadcast professional with a network affiliation. Ms. Johnston-James is also a freelance writer and editor.

The highlight of Ms. Johnston-James’ career was being named to the faculty of the Editors Conference of the National Conference of State Legislators in 2004 and 2006. Before her present position with state government, as a news reporter, she covered the state House of Representatives and legislative committee meetings. She was also active in politics, including the re-election of Governor Bill Clinton over Governor Frank White, and desired to take a more active part in state government.
