Celebrating her first year as portfolio manager and director of research at Sprucegrove Investment Management, Alanna Marshall Lizzola continues to garner 20 years of experience in the financial services arena. In five years, Ms. Marshall Lizzola hopes to remain as a portfolio manager, and become part of the business management division, to help with the transition of younger people.

An expert in mentorship, identifying good quality companies, and communication, Ms. Marshall Lizzola oversees eight analysts and two research assistants, all working to uphold and improve the company standards. She trains new analysts, attends global trade meetings, reads and edits all analysts reports, and reviews new research and its impact on the firm, along with possible implementation. Ms. Marshall Lizzola attributes her success to her consistency, as well as her willingness to learn and listen to others, as she initially became involved in her profession because she enjoyed writing and finance.
