Leonor Ramiscal has 40 years of experience in clinical laboratory. She is the Laboratory Manager and Director of the Grover C. Pill Medical Center. She is responsible for overseeing the operations of the medical laboratory, checking that employees are working within budget, ordering instruments, signing contracts, overseeing the quality control of the laboratory. She became involved in her profession because of her educational background. Ms. Ramiscal attributes her success to her dedication, vision and goals, and to her knowledge about career advancement.
Ms. Ramiscal received a bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical and medical technology from the School of Medical Technology at Saint Francis Hospital Peoria, Illinois in 1970. Her family had always instilled the importance of receiving a good education, she has always been an achiever, and always facing challenges face-first has seem to have worked for her. Ms. Ramiscal’s greatest career accomplishment was earning the status of laboratory director, having began as a medic, and rising up the leadership ladder.
As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Ramiscal finds her work experience and working with different races and cultures to be a strong point of her. Her advice to those entering the workforce is to set goals, overcome all obstacles, and create an achievement plan. She also services as president of the American Technologists of Midwest in Chicago. During her free-time, Ms. Ramiscal participates in soup kitchens.
