In love with the wonderful benefits of quilting, Daisy Comeaux finds that it’s ability to share lifelong memories, including individual and family histories and legacies, is exactly what keeps her fire lit for crafting. As current owner and president of Cottage Creations & Quilts, LLC, she teaches five quilting classes per-month, whilst participating in Southeastern Louisiana Quilters Association, the Gulf State Quilters Association, the J-Tex Trade Association and the Quilting Guild of Louisiana. The biggest challenge is time for the professional assignments and quilting; the life work balance. Ms. Comeaux’s greatest strength is customer service and customer service issues.
As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Comeaux believes it has been her hardwork, determination and turning challenges into opportunities that keeps her successful and full of energy to build herself professionally. Her advice to the younger generation of women is to stick to their passion and be the best they can be at what they do. She chose this career path in 1970 when she became an avid quilter, as she believes quilting is a wonderful way to remember one’s roots and memories, and she wanted to pay it forward. Quilting offers Ms. Comeaux a mutual interest in heritage, the gift of giving, and the story tellers she has met along the way.
Ms. Comeaux’s greatest accomplishment to date is all the wonderful opportunities that have come her way, as well, her ability to create patterns and maintain a wonderful support system that has also pushed her confidence within the industry. She is also proud of her 13 year old grandaughter who has won two awards for quilting statewide and nationally. Looking toward the future, Ms. Comeaux’s professional goals are design more quilt patterns and take her business to the next level.
