For her eighteenth year as an English and special education teacher at Killeen Independent School District, Stephanie Ratts Grissom continues to garner 23 years as a professional educator. There, she teaches English, psychology, social skills and developmental instruction to at-risk youths, and teaches English and psychology curriculum to students from ninth to 12th grades. She has taught everything from advanced placement courses to special education courses. Has taught both elementary and secondary students. In 2012, she began and continues to run the community service program in her current school. In five years, Ms. Ratts Grissom hopes to remain in the same position, teaching.Initially, Ms. Ratts Grissom became involved in her profession because her mother was a great teacher who inspired her to embrace teaching, and encouraged her work with at-risk/disciplinary students. Having found her success fruitful through her joy of working with her students, she has received recognition by the Who’s Who in America’s Teachers, Elite American Educators and is a two-time recipient of the KISD Star Teacher Award. Ms. Ratts Grissom received a Bachelor of Arts, is certified in education kindergarten through 12th grade students, and is a member of AFT.
