Initially, Jayne Hassel became involved in her profession after becoming a widow when she started working in the accounting department of a preschool, and was repeatedly promoted. Her boss owned 24 commercial properties, so she obtained a broker’s license and grew into the position she holds today. Now, Ms. Hassel is in her 22 year at Sterling Development Co., currently serving as president.

As an expert in finance, legal negotiation and real estate, Ms. Hassel attributes her success to her drive; she will pursue something until she accomplishes it, and she will complete whatever task she takes on well. Throughout her work-week, she handles the company’s financial matters, taxes, accounting, budgeting, showings, commercial sites, human resources functions, and profit sharing and coordinates with construction crews. In five years, Ms. Hassel will continue her education, and move forward in the pursuit of a position in management.

Ms. Hassel received a Bachelor of Arts in history from East Carolina University. She has also obtained North Carolina State Paralegal Certification from Duke University, is a Certified Broker in Charge through North Carolina and South Carolina Real Estate Commission, and a North Carolina Notary Public. During her free-time, Ms. Hassel supports Dove’s Nest, Charlotte Rescue Mission and the Christ Episcopal Church.
