Title: Senior Manager of Business Operations
Company: Cisco Systems, Inc.
Location: Bradenton, Ga.
Currently holding the position as senior manager of business operations at Cisco Systems, Inc., Jan Cornelssen continues her success through her drive to excel and taking on challenges without thinking about the consequence. As Cisco, her professional goals are to continue to provide excellent training to the staff to enhance the customer service experience and after retirement, she would like to go back in teaching. I enjoy when I see a student get it. Her inspiration comes from not knowing what each day will bring and each day is a new challenge. Ms. Cornelssen’s advice would be for young professionals to find a leader they can use as a mentor, male or female.
Ms. Cornelssen chose this career path because she has always enjoyed teaching and being an instructor so this was a very natural progression for her. She started her career in education and went into the U.S. Air Force where she was a technical training master instructor, supervisor and Chief of Tactical Operations Northern Germany. After leaving the military, Ms. Cornelssen wanted to use her skills and expertise so coming to Cisco would afford her the opportunities to continue to train and develop others.
