Celebrating her first year as medical director of Meridian Health System, Inc., Dr. Denise Johnson Miller continues in her 36th garnered year of health care administrative operations. As an expert MD in breast cancer care, she provides the hospital with outstanding operations fluidity, while consulting with patients, handling surgical planning, assessing high risk cancer patients, and providing imagine services. The greatest achievement of Dr. Johnson Miller’s career was serving as the advising dean at Stanford University.
Initially, Dr. Johnson Miller became involved in the industry because she is proficient in science and math and enjoys working with people. She went to the Washington University school of medicine and earned a MD in 1978, receiving a fellowship in surgical oncology through the City of Hope National Medical Center, and pursing residency in general surgery at the University of Illinois. Since graduation, Dr. Johnson Miller keeps abreast of changes in her professional endeavors through her memberships with the American Society of Clinical Oncology, The Society of Surgical Oncology, sits on the program committee of the Society of Black Academic Surgeons, National Medical Association, American College of Surgeons, International Society of Health Technology Assessment, and American Association of Cancer Research.
In the coming years, Dr. Johnson Miller hopes to be involved with national cancer care development in breast centers.
