Company: Washington University

Location: Collinsville, Ill.

With an insatiable passion for teaching and health care, Dr. Belinda Sinks continues at the Washington University school of medicine as a clinical and research audiologist. As she is goal-oriented to get more involved in teaching and growing personally and professional, her ultimate initiative is to make a different in at least one person’s life. Dr. Sinks’ greatest accomplishment to date is her research and publications, which are in a plethora of journals and textbook chapters.

As Dr. Sinks has depths of knowledge within the audiology field, her greatest strength is within her ability to teach students and convey information to her patients. Since earned a bachelor’s degree in audiology and speech, she received a Master of Arts in audiology, and a Ph.D. in it too. To keep abreast of changes in her field, Dr. Sinks holds memberships with the American Academy of Audiology, American Speech & Hearing Association, and Illinois League of Women Voters.

The biggest challenge Dr. Sinks has experienced in her field has been overcoming and gaining respect from her male counterparts. She chose this career path because she always had an interest in sign language; when she was in high school, she enjoyed the sciences, so her current profession has been a natural progression for her.
