As a 28 year intervention specialist at Legend Elementary in Newark City Schools, Judith Nelson continues to build her expertise in kindergarten through fifth grade students with mental, speech and physical disabilities. Through perseverance, determination and tenacity, she works towards each of her students’ dreams, and doesn’t let anything get in the way. Ms. Nelson believes her empathy towards her students is the key to hers and their success.

Ms. Nelson received a master’s degree in special education from Marygrove College and a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Ohio Northern University. Since graduation, she keeps abreast of changes in her professional endeavors through her memberships with the National Education Association and the Ohio Association of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
