Susan Duman works with social workers and is currently launching a project with them at The Noble Network of Charter Schools in Chicago, Ill. She is a strong advocate for the emotional growth and development of students in the undeserved areas of Chicago. Ms. Duman was a full- time teacher for four years and a substitute teacher for 10 years. What has contributed to Ms. Duman’s success is her continued determination. The advice she would give the younger generation of women would be to go for what they love. Her social work education with the University of Chicago has made a difference in her profession. For the past five years, Ms. Duman has offered pro bono supervision of social workers on behalf of The Noble network, and looking forward, she intends to continue performing pro-bono mental health services in Chicago.
The Chicago Institute for Psychoanalysis is an education and research institute that provides psychoanalysis and psychotherapy training and research, and therapeutic services and treatment for children and adults. There, Ms. Duman provides expertise in individual students with deeper-levels of instruction, while conducting psychotherapy in the adult clinic. Initially, she became involved in her profession because she was inspired to help children on a greater level, now attributing her success to her effective relationships building skills.
