Company: Faxton St. Lukes Healthcare

Location: Whitesboro, N.Y.

Growing up, Susan Evans was surrounded by nurses, thus by the age of 14, she began to take steps into becoming one professionally. She graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Science and is CNOR Certified, which has been the biggest accomplishment of her career. Throughout her career, her biggest challenge is being an educator and training nurses properly so that they realize the importance of nursing and how it impacts so many lives. Ms. Evans advises young women entering the career to be true to themselves, and find something that suits them professionally.

Ms. Evans believes her success and inspiration comes from within, as she is passionate about and loves nursing. Her professional goals are to grow and instill in her staff all the knowledge that she has learned for more than 40 years to provide the highest quality of service to the patient, now that she has retired. Professionally, she wants to be remembered for being approachable, giving everyone the time they deserve, always answering getting questions, and always following through. Outside her professional endeavors, Ms. Evans is a member of The Whitesboro Fire Department, and has been with the Ladies Auxillary for 25 years.

Ms. Evans was honored by the SFABA on December 6, 2013 for working closely with the school and students. She has also been recognized for her work with Mohawk Community College as an associate mentor for high school students in the scrub tech program. She supports the Breast Cancer Society, the Leukemia Foundation, National Missing and Exploited Children and many other charities. During her free-time, Ms. Evans enjoys reading journals, walking and quality time with her nine year old granddaughter.
