Company: DentalPro Temps LLC

Location: Jamestown, N.C.

Beginning in 1991, Mary Smith her career as a dental hygienist with HP Dental, while also working with Dr. Tommy Upchurch. For 20 years, she built upon expertise in research, customer services, public speaking, negotiations, accounting, budgeting, coaching, and most importantly, dental hygiene. Now, Ms. Smith serves as chief executive officer for DentalProTemps LLC.

Selected as one out of 60 most influential women in the U.S., Ms. Smith provides a rare occasion where dental surgeons will have the opportunity to build their practice with no overhead, no money down and no headaches. She is also going to be the first and only automated staffing service available for dentistry and will be able to provide dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and front desk clerical workers to come in to an office at a moment’s notice to help practices continue to be productive without missing a beat. Ms. Smith has been in dentistry for 35 years, first assisting local dentists in Rocky Mount, NC while still in high school, going to hygiene school after high school, working as a clinical dental hygienist for 30 years with 20 of those years being spent in the same office with the same dentist, enabling her to learn the dental office from back to front to back again.

“Building on her foundation of knowledge, Ms. Smith’s passion for dentistry and her love and passion for helping people, she opened a dental staffing company built on a very unique business model unlike any in NC, allowing dental personnel to take control of the jobs they worked. She gave dental personnel the independence and freedom to work as little or as much as they wanted, acting more as a liaison between dental offices and dental personnel. It’s a new idea but seems to be taking the dental community by storm with a growth rate of 600% in 2 years. Along with the new staffing business model came other new and improved ideas to make life easier for dentists, with her taking on the role of clinical and administrative management, giving the dentist the freedom to do what he/she enjoys most, dentistry.”
