Company: Jersey College School of Nursing

Location: Ridgefield, N.J.

Initially, Elizabeth Rivetti-Balatbat began her nursing career path at an early age because many of her family members were sick, and she would read up on their diseases in medical books, while trying to help them. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and when she was having trouble, her father always inspired her to continue doing her best, eventually receiving a scholarship for her efforts. Ms. Rivetti-Balatbat’s advice to the younger women entering the workforce is to “Give it a chance before you give up. If, however, you feel that health care is not for you, then certainly pursue something else. Also, maintain your sense of humor.”

Ms. Rivetti-Balatbat’s professional inspiration comes from her father who encouraged her to do what she wanted and to work very hard at it. Her biggest challenge throughout her career has been training new nurses who don’t have very much clinical experience. Currently, her professional goals are to move to a part time position and then go back into children’s hospice where her true passion awaits. Ms. Rivetti-Balatbat’s greatest accomplishment to date are her four children and seven grandsons.

For all of her hard work and tenacity during her career, Ms. Rivetti-Balatbat would like to be remembered most as someone who was king and fair to all. Outside her professional pursuits, she participates with Sigma Theta Tau functions, and is a lifetime member of the PTA. During her free-time, Ms. Rivetti-Balatbat supports the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for cancer, enjoys watching her grandson play hockey, and spends time with her family. She has also been awarded for her basketball coaching endeavors throughout the years.
