Title: Art Director, Product Manager, Member of the Board of Directors
Company: Christian Fischbacher Co. AG
Location: Saint Gallen, Switzerland
Camilla Fischbacher was born in Iran to an American mother and Iranian father. Because of the political unrest in her home country and the war with Iraq, she left Iran when she was ten. She moved to Switzerland and later went to high school in Germany. Upon graduation she went to America and studied Classics and Religion at Wheaton College MA. She then went on to graduate school in England and received an M. Phil from Oxford University in Modern Middle Eastern studies. It was at college that Ms. Fischbacker first studied photography, and it is a passion that has followed her ever since.
Ms. Fischbacher has lived and traveled extensively through out South East Asia and Japan, and now lives in Switzerland with her husband and three children, where she works as the Art Director of their family company. And continues to exhibit as a photographer. The highlight of her career is that she has completely changed the look and direction of the company, which is almost 200 years old. What was once a conservative, traditional based company is now recognized as being contemporary and trend setting, which was not an easy feat!
Ms. Fischbacher has received the Material Innovations Award, and the Red Dot Award for the BENU Line of 100 Percent Recycled Fabric Made from Post Consumer PET Bottles. In the next five years, she intends to get her brand out to more people, expand, and create something new to keep her product line “fresh.”
