Through her books, Ms. Lewis hopes to encourage others to enter the field of special education. She also hopes to write a children’s book that will serve as an inspiration for special children. She is also working on a movie based in Charleston about hitting hard times. She was a consultant on special education for teachers in India from 2005 to 2006 and worked as an alternate assessment teacher leader in 2004. She also served as a continuing professional consultant. She authored and published two poems between 2003 and 2007. The poems are entitled ‘Night of Terror/ Night of Grace’ and ‘Just a Piece of the Puzzle,’ she has authored two other poems and hopes to have them published soon. The titles of these poems are ‘Thinking of Home’ and ‘When God Ties a Knot.’
