Both mathematics and technology have always been easy for Maria Martorell, thus her career path in computer programming came naturally to her throughout her professional years. Wielding a master’s degree in information technology from the American Intercontinental University, she continues on in her career as computer programmer through the City of Miami and a trainer at the Elevate Miami Program. Through both, Ms. Martorell exceeds her duties and leads by example, which pushes her peers and subordinates to accomplish their life-driven and professional goals.

Prior to her master’s degree, Ms. Martorell received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. Since, she has becomes certified in Microsoft programs, and maintained membership through the Central America USA International Development Agency. Her biggest challenges has been being a single mother and balancing work with her life, but through her ability to inspire her team, persistence, and general human relations, she continued to prevail. Ms. Martorell’s future coals are staying active throughout retirement, and volunteering within the information technology community.

Ms. Martorell’s greatest accomplishments are her children and working with the seniors, helping them learn computers and teaching them to build their technology skills, so they can use the Internet in their everyday lives. Her inspiration comes for the knowing that the senior community needs the knowledge in technology and that I can be an important part in the agent of change.
