Janet Seaforth is well known for having developed a Qigong for Health and Relaxation on double disc DVD. Many of her sculptures have been displayed in galleries. She has taught for more than 30 years and continues to educate herself. Her goal is to help people in their pursuit of health and fitness. She provides students with current information on maintaining and improving health and well being. Ms. Seaforth has recently hosted classes for DAAC (Drug Abuse Alternative Center) and Sutter Institute for Health and Healing for patients receiving cancer treatment.

Their home care support group holds sessions every month at the local senior center to support local independent care givers, community elders in the need of service, and improve the quality of care for elders. This model is very successful and a win win for the elders and for the local care providers. For a small donation, Choice Studios has a registered nurse and other professional volunteers, who share good nursing care practices, such as what are the signs of dehydration, how to care for Alzheimer and dementia clients, what are the legalities of Power of Attorney, etc. Any question that caregivers have they focus on the answers and help improve the quality of community care providers, whether they are outside paid workers or family members that want more information to better take care of their loved ones. They also have 5×7 cards available to anyone at the senior center that are easy to read and lists who can help them with transportation, shopping, cleaning, personal care, companionship and whatever service the independent worker wants to offer. The cards include contact information, availability, skill level and years of service.

In five years, Ms. Seaforth will be growing on a personal and professional level. She also plans to create a home care program through the senior center, connecting local caregivers with local elders. Furthermore, she would like to see healthcare professionals, doctors, hospitals, and others to start using Qigong as a Rx, prescription. Ms. Seaforth states that it has been documented to be more effective in healing disease and maintaining good health than any other drug. It is based on deep breathing and gentle relaxed range of motion movement that has been referred to as ‘medicine in motion.’ The Pacific Qi Association has set up a website to promote every Qigong and Tai Chi teacher in her county to list their classes so people can find a class in their neighborhood. This is not about competition but cooperation, and serving the need to improve the health care system in America. Ms. Seaforth has seen people’s health improve dramatically when they practice Qigong everyday for 15 minutes, which is a simple technique that anyone can do.
