Proudly, Dr. Linda Scott Cummings has served the environmental sciences field for more than 43 years. As president and chief executive officer of PaleoResearch Institute, Inc., she helps provide paleoenvironmental, archaeobotanic and radiocarbon dating services, climate modeling, parasite and diatom analysis, and historic sites and privies. Dr. Scott Cummings started a small business in 1972 that has grown and developed into PaleoResearch Institute, and her success and passion has grown since earning a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Throughout her work-week, Dr. Scott Cummings provides radio-carbon dating, examines the past environment, provides information about foods people consumed in the past, teaches intermittently as an adjunct professor at Colorado State University, the University of Colorado and Louisiana State University, and runs and grows the institute. She also manages innovative and creative aspects, including research design and report writing, and builds an integrated research company. The highlight of Dr. Scott Cummings career was being able to wake up every day and do the science and research she loves to do.
In five years, Dr. Scott Cummings hopes to experience continued growth and an expansion of the business’ services. She intends to take notice of the small successes and integrate those methods or observations into mainstream archaeology and archaeobotany. Her goal is to maintain and promote excellence in extraction, identification, and analysis of materials. Dr. Scott Cummings would also like to promote the development and use of state-of-the-art techniques for the analysis and interpretation of archaeobotanic records.
