For 25 years, Dolly Cooper has proudly served the Chicago Fire Department as a paramedic and registered nurse. As a fire rescue and emergency medicine department in the heart of Chicago, her expertise in paramedics and nursing are in high demand in the field and at the station. Specifically, Ms. Cooper specializes in nursing consultation and day care when she is not marching to the beat of emergency.
Ms. Cooper currently teaches at the Fire Academy; the experience that the new trainees get was the best she could provide was very rewarding. She attributes her success to her love of her work. Initially, she became involved in her profession because she was a biology major in college and it was a natural progression. Ms. Cooper received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Olivet Nazarene University in 2007.
Ms. Brown-Cooper also does nurse consulting, servicing 16 day cares in Chicago. The day cares that require a registered nurse on staff, she observes the staff working with the infants and toddlers, does in services-infection control, sanitation, hand washing, diaper changing, including training with staff and checking files for up to date immunizations. In five years, Ms. Brown-Cooper would like to earn a master’s degree in health care administration.
