Dr. Barbara Zahn is the university supervisor member of the school administration department, and she also works in the TED program for the Colorado campus. Weilding 46 years of educational experience under her belt, she continues to draw from her expertise in peer evaluation, supervision, and administrative mentorship and oversight. Through her current position, she visits student teachers and helps them with their school preparations, while also teaching as a professor at the University of Phoenix. In five years, Dr. Zahn hopes to continue growing as an esteemed professional in the higher education arena.
Having become involved in her career-path through a natural progression of educational discourse, Dr. Zahn successfully continues today in the collegiate community through her dedication to her students and teacher-students, passion for educating minds everywhere, and the support she receives from her husband. The most gratifying aspects of her career are seeing her students progress in their careers, and watching some of them return to the school to serve as teachers, principals or superintendents. However, hearing from graduated students on how her teachings made a great impact on their lives is truly the greatest gift Dr. Zahn receives throughout her career’s time-line.
In 1989, Dr. Zahn earned a Ph.D. in school administration from the University of Denver, CO, having already achieved a Master of Arts in curriculum, and a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. Since graduation, she has received the Director’s Award through the University of Phoenix, and a service award through the Colorado Association of School Executives. During her free-time, Dr. Zahn enjoys spending time with her three children, eight grandchildren, and one two-year-old great-grandson.
