Brigid Gaine

PharmTechTitle: Lead Certified Pharmacy Technician

Company: Rite Aide Pharmacy

Location: Waterford, Va.

As an expert in customer education and pharmaceuticals, Ms. Gaine continues in her 12th year as lead certified pharmacy technician at Rite Aide Pharmacy. There, she manages the daily transaction log, runs a report on the total prescriptions processed each day, fills customers’ prescriptions, and advises new pharmacist on company policies and procedures. Ms. Gaine has received college coursework pharmacy technician studies, is a Virginia State Certified Pharmacy Technician, and is a Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Initially, Ms. Gaine became involved in her profession because she developed arthritis while going to school to become an elementary teacher, and needed a job that provided medical benefits. Now, what separates her from her peers is being on a first name basis with her clients, and them asking for her and only her to speak with makes her job extremely satisfying. In five years, Ms. Gaine hopes to challenge herself by working in a hospital pharmacy.

Ms. Gaine managed a college softball team for two years and volunteers at health and wellness drives, spreading awareness about the dangers of high blood pressure. As well, she is on her third term with American Legion as their Auxiliary Vice President.  She also works with Purcellville Volunteer Fire Department. What has contributed to Brigid’s success is the continuous education and the ability to use technology to further her abilities and helps her to grow in her profession. The advice she would share with the younger generation of women is to keep your options open.
