From lecturing to researching and traveling, and eventually consulting, Helen Appleton has past the last 30 years refining her skill-sets within the human resources arena. Wielding the ability to look at difficult situations using creative solutions, she draws upon her enterprise in bargain and negotiation abilities, focusing on the challenge of taking on difficult areas that others would avoid, are what separate her from her peers. For the past 13 years, Ms. Appleton has honed these talents, including expertise in human resources education and consulting, industrial relations, and international business services, to her role as owner and chief executive officer of Helen Appleton & Associates. 

Through her Melbourne-based international consultancy, Ms. Appleton provides research methodologies, project and risk management, strategic alliances and partnerships, higher education, learning and development, research methodologies, human resources management for the Australian public sector, international business, and innovation and entrepreneurship. She also plans, develops and implementis human resources strategies, handles recruitment and retention strategies, and stays fair to the equal-employment opportunity and diversity. As well, Ms. Appleton puts together training workshops, presents at international and national conferences and developing and delivering master’s classes on a regular basis, and conducts project and program management for several large business ventures and successfully growing them into profitable and viable business entities.

Prior to her present position, Ms. Appleton’s most recent consulting assignment was with the Australian National Preventive Health Agency, a small agency that was created to focus on preventing obesity, tobacco-smoking and binge-drinking. However, throughout the years, she has found her success generally stems her hard work, curiosity and networking abilities. In five years, Ms. Appleton intends to move into international business and politics.
